From playing in the Sahara Desert, just North of Timbuktu, with Roswell Rudd's Trombone Shout Band, to traveling all over the world with Frank Sinatra (1987 - 1994), trombonist and composer Deborah Weisz's life in music has been filled with diversity. While in Las Vegas Deborah began working as a free lance musician; performing for production shows, and different star acts such as Joe Williams and Frank Sinatra. Having spent a lot of time in New York City, while on the road with Sinatra and other groups, Deborah met musicians there and realized it was where she wanted to be. So in 1993, she relocated to New York City and began performing with various groups, including: Broadway shows, chamber and orchestral groups, studio recording work for TV/Film, the big bands of Jimmy Heath, DIVA, and The NY/BMI Jazz Composers' Workshop Orchestra. She has also performed in smaller ensembles with artists such as Freddie Hubbard, Don Braden, Fred Hersch, Roswell Rudd, and Sonny Fortune. Of her new Trio CD, TRIO (2007), David Dupont of Cadence Magazine states, "Her newest Trio like her previous releases shows her as much concerned with fashioning a coherent ensemble performance as with showing off her own estimable instrumental capabilities...The trio delivers...with a collective looseness that never sounds drilled, but rather like they are spontaneously spinning out the notes. Weisz' distinctive tone serves as the lodestar for the band. She speaks through her horn with a dramatic whisper, akin to Lauren Bacall's voice."
